Last weekend i neglected my blogging!! I was so busy and never did get chance to get on and blog,so bad i know but must try harder is the new moto!!

so last sunday i took an impromptu trip back to cumbria just for a few hours to celebrate my aunts birthday.
this wasn't just any old place for a birthday it was the beautiful and mesmerising mansion on a private island in the lakes that my family has the privilege of using as my cousin works on it as the landscaper.

you catch the private boat from the jetty on the lake, superbly driven by my cousin i may add, to the island in the middle of the lake. it was absolutely freezing on the crossing the water was so so cold and it just froze my face!! but what we were greeted with at the other side after hauling yourself off the boat onto the jetty is absolutely amazing!! scenery to take your breath away, so stunning it makes me incredibly proud to be from this beautiful part of the world.

abandoned skates
the boat, the water, and the hills, and moi!!
surrounded by my wonderful family from aunts to baby cousins, all 21 of us sat down to a culinary feast, with bread and meats, salad and home made chutneys, all topped of with an array of mouth watering deserts home made by various members of my family. i shouldn't have favourites but seeing as i did sample ALL of them i do have a right to give the prize to the sticky toffee pudding...oh no wait the scones and clotted cream...oh no wait the trifle!! LOL.

A brilliant day well worth the round trip for the few hours i got to spend at home with family, feeling so found on a lone private island.....
